The ABA Journey

Every ABA therapy program begins with an assessment by a BCBA. Your provider will start evaluating patterns and considering long-term goals during this time. After spending time with your family to understand their challenges and dynamics, the BCBA will create an ABA therapy plan to meet your child’s needs and improve their life.

The seven dimensions of ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) are Applied, Behavioral, Analytic, Technological, Conceptually Systematic, Effective, and Generality.

These dimensions serve as a framework for developing and implementing effective and ethical ABA interventions. They ensure that interventions focus on socially significant behaviors and lead to meaningful improvements in clients' lives.

Here's a breakdown of each dimension:

  1. 1. Applied:

ABA interventions should focus on socially significant behaviors that have a direct impact on the individual's life. For example, teaching a child to communicate their needs effectively is socially significant.

  2. 2. Behavioral:

Behaviors targeted for change must be observable and measurable. This allows for tracking progress and making data-driven decisions.

  3. 3. Analytic:

ABA interventions need to demonstrate a functional relationship between the intervention and the behavior change. This means showing that the intervention is actually causing the observed changes in behavior.

  4. 4. Technological:

ABA procedures should be described clearly and precisely so that they can be replicated by others.

  5. 5. Conceptually Systematic:

ABA interventions should be based on the principles of behavior analysis. For example, using reinforcement to increase desired behaviors.

  6. 6. Effective:

ABA interventions should produce practical and significant behavior changes that are meaningful for the individual.

  7. 7. Generality:

The goal is for behavior changes to be maintained across different environments, people, and time.

Parent Training

At Boriken Behavioral health we believe that children make the most progress when they are supported by parents, family members, and loved ones. Our approach helps engage the entire family by supporting you with awareness, education, and training to help your child realized their best possible therapeutic outcomes.

Our team of specialists will work closely with you and your child to understand their current skills and functioning as well as identify their highest possible potential. This is a critical first step in guiding the whole family toward a journey that will elevate your child to enjoy the highest quality of life. Our family support team helps you by offering one-on-one parent training. This is the perfect opportunity to express your concerns and ask questions, but it also helps us compassionately guide you through topics and therapeutic practices that will arm you with the skills you need to help your child meet their milestones.

Coping Skills

Living with autism can be challenging. ABA Therapy teaches children the skills necessary to regulate their emotional state. These skills include learning human behavior, controlling impulses, and thinking through their choices.

Daily Living Skills

ABA therapy teaches essential skills for starting the day independently, such as using the toilet, brushing teeth, bathing, face washing, and putting on clothes. Our therapists will guide your child through gradual steps to establish routines for their daily activities.

Visual/Perception Skills

Visual and perception skills are a cornerstone of intelligence and development. We foster these abilities by incorporating activities such as:

  • Playing with puzzles

  • Matching identical objects from a selection

  • Playing memory games for better retention of visual information

  • Playing games like “Where’s Waldo?” that focus on finding hidden objects in busy pictures

Boriken Behavioral Health has transformed our child's life with their compassionate ABA therapy. The in-home sessions are convenient and effective. Highly recommend their services!
